Are dominoes originated from China?
The dominoes are actually the ancient Chinese "pai gow 牌九 páijiǔ or card nine". According to records, after spreading to Italy in the 18th century, people used the points on the "card nine" to make some jigsaw puzzles, and later an Italian curiously put up the dominoes and gradually developed into the original "domino".
In the second year of Emperor Xuanzong of Song (AD 1120), a game called "dominoes" appeared among the people, which was introduced into the palace during Emperor Gaozong of the Song dynasty, and then quickly became popular throughout the country, when dominoes were mostly made of tooth bones, so dominoes were also known as "tooth cards", and the folk called them "card nine."

Soon, wooden dominoes quickly spread throughout Italy and Europe, and dominoes became an elegant European sport.
Later, in order to thank the missionary Domino for bringing them such a good sport, the game of dominoes was named "Domino", and by the 19th century, domino had become a worldwide sport, and in non-Olympic sports, it was the most well known, the most participated and the most widely expanded sport.
